My Daring Baker’s Kitchen

Not too long after I stumbled into blogging I began to see Red Velvet cakes in food blogs — seemingly related Red Velvet cakes.  It didn’t take long to find that the fledgling Daring Bakers had whipped them up and I had to make one for myself just to see if it actually tasted as red as it looked.  Until that time, not only had I never tasted Red Velvet cake — I’d never heard of one before.  I made the recipe Lis posted at La Mia Cucina, and the next month, I was hooked — not on Red Velvet cake — but the Daring Bakers.

Three years of fun have passed, friends and visits have been made, so I must say thank you to Lisa and Ivonne, the fabulous women behind the Daring Bakers.

Please notice that an unexpected gain from participating in this effort is a reasonable improvement in my photography skills.  I have much to learn,  but my learning to this point has been influenced primarily by other photographers, practicing, digging into my camera manual, practicing, purchasing a book or two and actually reading them, practicing, and reading many, many on-line tutorials.  Did I mention that I practiced?

If you notice a few photographs are posted without active links, I’ll blame that on technology.  When I moved my existing content to this domain about a year ago, I had to split the massive file into three segments before the migration, and a few posts were lost along the way. I’m thinking the world can survive without my efforts to make bagels, Opera Cake, or Bostini Cream Pie.
